Staff shortages in speech and language therapists and how we can help
The Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists recently expressed its growing concern for the shortages in speech and language therapists in services across the UK.
It says children with speech and language difficulties are particularly at risk due to financial uncertainty, increased demand and issues with workforce planning.
A report published in June by UK Parliament reiterated that the pandemic exacerbated these workforce pressures, rather than causing them. It also notes that “declining workforce numbers, and the lack of attention paid to other parts of the healthcare workforce such as AHPs is impairing the ability to integrate care to maximise patient care and safety”.
Having a sufficient amount of healthcare staff is paramount to patients receiving the care they deserve.
Here at Amaré Health, we are doing our best to support the NHS and private organisations struggling with staffing shortages.
