Radiographers to strike over pay

Radiographers across the UK have voted to take industrial action over pay for the first time ever.

Healthcare workers at 43 NHS trusts voted to go on strike in a bid to improve the government’s pay offer of a 5% pay rise and a cash sum for 2022.

More than 150 trusts supported the strike action, but not all of them reached the required turnout threshold.

The Society of Radiographers says strikes will take place this month unless members’ request for a better deal is met.

Time, date and location is still to be confirmed by the union.

Dean Rogers, from the Society of Radiographers, said: “The radiography professionals on the front line know that low wages undermine efforts to create a stable NHS workforce, with sufficient staffing levels to ensure that all patients receive the best treatment possible.

“If the government wants to reduce NHS waiting lists and ensure that patients receive the treatment they need, when they need it, then it must urgently prioritise the recruitment and retention of radiography professionals.”

Here at Amaré Health, we support all Radiographers in their fight for fairer pay.
